Helping you find peace in the chaos
Who We Are
-
Hometown Counseling is an LGBTQIA+ affirming private practice helping those who feel like no one “gets it.”
We have multiple clinicians to try to help meet your specific needs. Need nighttime appointments? We’ve got you! Weekends? No problem. Do you want someone who specializes in neurodiversity? You have options!
Anxiety, depression, relationships, trauma – we’re here to help. -
Authenticity is a core value of our owner, Dr. Tana Haven, and you’ll see its impact throughout our practice.
Our Pledge to You:
We won’t make promises we can’t keep.
We won’t pair you with someone we don’t think is a good “fit.”
We won’t judge you or ask why you didn’t come sooner.
We will hold space.
We will support you.
We will be on your team.
Sound like what you’ve been looking for? -
What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead. What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it.
Hometown was created to be a safe, inclusive, and creative space for both clients and staff.
The pride we take in our work and our company makes a difference in the services we offer!
Our Team
Dr. Tana Haven (she/her)
Owner/Counselor
My speciality is identity exploration and affirmation. Not sure who “you” are or how to live in a way that feels most healthy and authentic to you? I’m your girl.
This can present in multiple ways and populations, but most commonly, for me, it looks like working with LGBTQIA+ and/or neurodivergent individuals. I often work with young adults (chronologically, or at heart) navigating life transitions, and I work with people of all ages and backgrounds to cope with anxiety, depression, and trauma.
I utilize a combination of therapeutic theories and techniques, including, but not limited to, Reality Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Brainspotting (BSP), and Creative Activities. All of my work will be completed through an Affirmative lens.
If you would like to learn more about my background, education, or work experience, feel free to ask. I want to be as open as possible to make sure we are the best fit.

Student Counselor
Makenna Eckstein (she/her)
Are you struggling with the current state of the world? Do you feel like you have no one to talk to or feel alone in your experience? I am here to help.
I am a Clinical Mental Health graduate student intern who is working towards graduation this year. I specialize in anxiety, depression, and adjustment concerns, and I am happy to serve all ages*.
I am an integrative counselor who uses a variety of theories and techniques, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Person-Centered Therapy. These theories allow us to tackle issues at hand and work together through talk therapy to resolve them.
If you would like to learn more about me or what working together may look like, let’s set up a time to chat!
Makenna is booking new intakes at this time. For questions or to claim a spot, please contact the office at happytohelp@hometowncounseling.com or START HERE
